Baby Scrapbooking Layout

When it comes to scrapbooking, page layouts are as important as real estate. Believe it or not, the layout of a page can make or break the page. If the pages aren't interesting to look at, the viewer may just close the book. So, how can you make your baby scrapbook layouts interesting so everyone will love them? Simple; try some of these.

Use color

Many of us are used to white walls all over our homes. But think about this rule: there shouldn't be less than three colors on a scrapbook page. The background page should have a mixture of at least two of the colors and then two other solid colors should compliment the palette. You can very easily find embellishments that match these papers and then your baby scrapbook layout will be gorgeous.

Alternate photo layouts

Regardless of your photo source, pictures are printed in rectangular fashion. Instead of making your scrapbook layouts traditional, turn them into creative masterpieces by alternating the format of your photos.

There are several ways that you can do this. First, you can purchase a corner rounder at a craft store that automatically trims the photo corners into round edges. Or, you can get stencils to trace around the photos and make them a different shape. If you're feeling extra crafty, you can turn your photos into a mosaic. Instead of just sticking the photo onto the page, cut the photo into equal squares (by the inch) and then put it back together like a puzzle. Leave a small gap in between each square to let the background color peek through. The photos will have more interest and the page will look more creative.

Think layers

Let's go back to the real estate scenario. How comfortable do you feel in a room when there is only piece of furniture? The same goes for your baby scrapbook layouts! No one wants to look at a page that only has one piece of paper, with one color and boring photos. You have to pile on the style to make the page worthwhile.

Start by picking the photos for the page. Then, layer the photos onto a sheet of cardstock (solid or patterned). Do the same thing again with a different color of paper that compliments the first layer. Having these papers in the background will make the photos stand out on the page and add the exact amount of furniture that the page needs.

Adding flair to your baby scrapbooking layout is a cinch. And you'll be so happy you spent the time to do the work.
