Creating a Beginner ScrapBooking

For the beginner scrapbooking enthusiast there are lots of ideas to make really awesome scrapbooks. You can make ones for your children. The family gatherings when everyone is together in one place are perfect ideas. These are memories that will last for many years when you put them all together in a scrapbook.

When Scrap Booking Anything Goes

If you are having trouble getting started, just think of it this way. Anything about which you want to make your scrapbook is fine. Go through your photos and find the ones you want to use. Is there a birthday party that you would like to use? Do you want to do one on your sister's wedding? The ideas are endless. A new baby is always a good start of a scrapbook.

Once you find the ones you want to use, look for any mementos of the party, wedding or birth. This can be anything from a piece of lace to a party favor. There are also many great embellishments that you can purchase to help add to the pages of your scrapbook.

When planning one for a new baby, there are stickers galore that will be great for adding to these pages. Baby bottles, diapers and blocks are just a few. Just be careful not to add too much to each page. You do not want the pages to look cluttered.

Choosing Colors

Choose the colors you are going to use for your pages. There should not be more than two or three colors because you will lose the main theme of each page.

The colors you use should be complimentary to the photos and other items that will be on the page. If you mix too many colors and patterns together the page will not have a uniform look. It will be too busy to concentrate on any one thing on the page.

Matting your photos is a good idea because this will help them to stand out on the page. White, beige and black are very good colors to use for matting because they will blend in with the other items on your pages. You can use bright colors depending on the other colors being used.

Deciding on the Layout

Do not permanently affix anything to the pages until you have 'played' with the items you will be putting in the pages of your scrapbook. Move them around. Try pictures in the middle or off to the side. When you have them in the spot you think they look the best, then you can stick them in permanently.

A tip for the older photos you have that you may not want to permanently affix to your beginner scrapbooking is to scan them into your computer. Then using a piece of photo printing paper you can make a copy to use and keep the original in a photo album for safekeeping. This preserves older photos and you still have the one you wanted for your scrapbook.

Another thing you may want to consider when putting your beginner scrapbooking together is including writing. There may be something such as a poem or something special that you feel would be perfect for a page in your scrapbook. This can be added and will make your beginner scrapbooking adventure.
