Creating The Perfect Family Tree Scrapbooking Pages

Family Tree Scrapbooking tips

When it comes to putting together a family tree scrapbooking pages those who are experienced know that these are not just some random photo albums that can be thrown together in a half an hour.

Scrapbooks take time, energy, patience, and love. Because of this, it is important to make sure that you are getting all of the hints and tips that you possible can before you get started. The more you know and the more you are prepared to handle the easier the experience will be. Scrapbooking is supposed to be fun and exciting so make sure that you are ensuring that it will be that for you.

The biggest problem that people face when it comes to family tree or family history scrapbooks is old pictures. Many older pictures have gone through some trials and tribulations, which will show by the rips, stains, or just through the fading of the picture.

What should you do when you come across such pictures? Do you want to include the pictures as they are or would you prefer the same photo but just an updated, better polished version? While aged photos are nice in frames for scrapbooking you will probably want to stick with the fresher versions.

First make sure that you are selecting the photos that you want to go in the album. A two page spread should have somewhere between five and seven photos.

A themed section that consists of only one page should have two or three photos on it. Remember, the point is not to include every photo of your family tree that you have. You want to pick the best of the best. That is what you will want in the family tree scrapbook. When you find that some of the most perfect shots are pictures that have seen better days, you will need to take action.

What you will want to do is to scan the photo on your computer and print out a new one. With the technology that we have today, being able to print real photos from our computers, no one will be able to tell the difference. You can also use photo-editing programs to clean up the image or to repair any cracks that have shown up throughout the years. Once you have all of your pictures in order, it is time to select the perfect background.

While there are a lot of wonderful background pages out there, you may want to do something a little different for the background pages of your family tree scrapbook. By taking some personal heirlooms, such as a piece of lace from a wedding dress or a copy of a traditional family recipe, you can make an amazing background. Simply photocopy the image or scan it onto your computer and then print it out. This gives that personal touch that a family tree scrapbooking pages should always have.

You should also make sure that you are adding not only names and dates under the photos but a little history as well. If you have a special picture of your grandfather then make sure to add a little fact about him such as a hobby or a favorite joke he would tell a million times over. These little tidbits along with names and dates will be what make your family tree scrapbooking pages one of a kind and something to be cherished forever.
