Creating Scrapbook Poems

Scrapbook Poems

There's nothing nicer to give your grown child than a scrapbook poems and journaling assembled as they grew. The book can contain everything from pictures to your personal thoughts as you watched your baby grow. This scrapbook is an excellent way to show your child not only how much you cared but also the wide span of emotions that you go through as a parent. They'll use it as they become parents and find that it helps them with the fears and uncertainty of parenthood. After all, if Mom and Dad had the same fears then it must be normal.

Part of the scrapbook can be and should be poetry. You don't have to be a poet laureate to create a poem for your child. Watch them sleep one night and then put your emotions down on paper. It doesn't have to rhyme to be beautiful and lyrical. It simply has to be honest.

Making Baby Boy/Girl scrapbook Poems

Today, girls as well as boys may be made of frogs and snails and puppy dog tails as well as sugar and spice and all things nice. It's no longer a society where you can select specific interests. You do have the freedom of hoping your child will have certain traits.

Most parents want their boys or girls to stand tall and strong. They want them to be honest and honorable. These types of traits are particularly good fodder for poems. A poem that wonders of their future is also one that many parents find excellent.

Poems are emotion put on paper. Does the baby's eyes sparkle and wink at you knowing how much you love him? Do you see a strong man or woman in your child? Does the babies warm breath against your cheek make you feel her potential for living life to its fullest or giving love and warmth to others? One simple thought you have at a two o'clock feeding can be a short poem or extend to a lengthy emotional verse.

You don't have to write the scrapbook poems yourself, however. There are plenty of sites that offer poems for boys and girls for those that scrapbook. If you have a particular picture that you want to put a poem with, you'll often find one at these sites. You simply choose a category, such as baby's feet, and you'll find a poem perfect for your picture.

Family Scrapbook Poems

You can create your own family poems or opt out for a poem you find that fits the occasion. Scrapbook sites often have different categories that will fit a picture. A graduation picture might use a poem from the category of achievement.

You also can have the family write poetry. It's fun to collect poems written by all the members and date them for the scrapbook. They may not be the same quality as Robert Burns or Lord Tennyson but they do represent the person much better and their thoughts at the time of writing.

Tips and Ideas for Creating Poems

Poems are nothing more than emotions on paper. Your love for your family and child is one emotion that is difficult to capture in words but honest and pure when you do. Look at the pictures and first write what happened in each. If you want rhyming verse, think of words that fit together for a rhyme and work them into the poem. Often if you think of the first line the rest seem to easily fall into place.

Use other forms of poetry such as Haiku, to describe your pictures. You'll have a truly unique scrapbook when you use your own verse.

Spend a family night and get everyone involved. Have every family member select a picture to write about and then, when you add it to the scrapbook page include his or her name as the author. It is a way of creating two memories at once.
